Whereabouts of Missing NFL Player Cam Sutton Still Unknown Despite Arrest Warrant and Contract Void

Cam Sutton has been contacted by Mike Tomlin

After missing five days, former Lions cornerback Cam Sutton remains out of contact and his whereabouts are still unknown. Just 24 hours after news broke that a warrant had been issued for his arrest in Florida for domestic battery by strangulation, a third-degree felony with a potential five-year prison sentence, Sutton was released by the Lions. Detroit has announced plans to void Sutton’s $10.5 million guaranteed contract for the 2024 season.

As NFL owners meet this week, questions are expected to be directed at the Lions and Sutton’s former team, the Steelers. Pittsburgh head coach Mike Tomlin has stated that he reached out to Sutton regarding the off-field issues but declined to provide further details. Speculation and concerns have risen over Sutton’s well-being as he has not turned himself in or made contact since the news broke.

Drafted in the third round of the 2017 NFL Draft, Sutton has had a successful seven-year career with nine interceptions in 101 games. In his first season with the Lions in 2023, he appeared in 17 games, recording 65 tackles, four tackles for loss, six pass defenses, and one interception. The expectation was for Sutton to bounce back from a challenging previous season with the addition of new defensive backs to the roster.
