This free and accessible event offers the community an opportunity to connect with Hawai‘i State Department of Health staff about various programs and actions they can take to improve their public health challenges. Attendees will also have the chance to discover educational opportunities and career paths in the field of public health.

Dr. Janet Berreman, Kaua‘i District Health Officer, is excited to welcome everyone at the event and express gratitude for their continued support in building a healthier and thriving Kaua‘i community. By working together, communities across the country can create opportunities that allow them to better understand and support public health initiatives, leading to improved well-being for all individuals involved.

National Public Health Week is an annual tradition that encourages people to explore the many programs and services offered by the DOH that promote community health and well-being. This year’s theme, Protecting, Connecting, and Thriving: We Are All Public Health highlights the importance of collective action in improving public health outcomes.

During this week, communities across America come together to recognize critical issues affecting national health while emphasizing how everyone plays a role in creating a safer and more connected society for all.

The open house event will feature DOH staff members from various departments such as vector control, administrative services, community health workers, public health nurses, epidemiologists, mental health professionals, food safety inspectors, disabilities case managers, and microbiologists who will be present to answer questions and provide information on their respective fields.

Join us for an engaging day filled with informative sessions and interactive activities designed to help you make informed decisions about your public health needs!
