Steelers continue quarterback makeover by adding third option to lineup alongside Russell Wilson and Justin Fields

The Pittsburgh Steelers have undergone a major overhaul of their quarterback room this offseason. First, they traded Kenny Pickett to the Philadelphia Eagles. Then, Mitch Trubisky and Mason Rudolph signed with new teams. In his place, the Steelers acquired Russell Wilson from the Denver Broncos and Justin Fields from the Chicago Bears for a conditional sixth-round pick. Recently, the team added another quarterback, Kyle Allen.

Kyle Allen is a former NFL player who has agreed to terms with the Steelers. He spent the 2023 season with the Buffalo Bills after going undrafted in 2018 out of Houston. In his first two NFL seasons, he started 13 games for the Carolina Panthers before playing for the Washington Football Team in 2020 and signing with the Houston Texans in 2022. Throughout his career, Allen has played in a total of 30 games, 19 of which he started, with 4,734 passing yards, 26 touchdowns, and 21 interceptions.

Currently, Allen is considered third-string on the Steelers’ depth chart but there is still uncertainty about who will start as head coach Mike Tomlin has stated that Wilson is leading for it but competition will be fierce as they prepare for the upcoming season.
