Saginaw Business Frustrated by Lengthy Intersection Closure

In Saginaw, Michigan, an unexpected closure has caused frustration for commuters and businesses alike. On Monday, March 25, the intersection of Sheridan Avenue and Hess Avenue was closed due to construction. The project is expected to last until Aug. 9, leaving local businesses worried about the impact on their traffic.

Fred Temple, who works at the family-owned Hand Dipped Ice Cream on Sheridan Avenue, was shocked to see the hard hats and orange barrels blocking the intersection. He expressed his frustration with the closure and felt that a better way could have been found to conduct the project without disrupting businesses in the area. However, he is still encouraging customers to visit the ice cream shop and enjoy their products. Hand Dipped Ice Cream offers a variety of treats including tacos, tostadas, and 30 flavors of ice cream. Temple also mentioned plans for Fourth of July fireworks and hopes that customers will still come to visit despite the road closure.

In addition to Sheridan and Hess Avenues, Gratiot Avenue (M-46) is also closed between Malzahn Street and Wheeler Street in Saginaw until Friday afternoon, March 29 due to utility work. The combination of road closures is causing inconvenience for commuters and businesses in the area.
