Pakistan adding Mohammad Amir and Imad Wasim to T20 World Cup squad

Pakistan has announced its 15-man squad for the T20 World Cup, with several newcomers set to make their debut in the tournament. Fast bowler Haris Rauf, who has been participating in net sessions without any issues, was chosen for the squad despite not playing competitive cricket since dislocating his shoulder in late February. Leg-spinner Abrar Ahmed and opening batter Saim Ayub will also be making their first appearance at the T20 World Cup.

Pakistan is the last team to announce its squad for the upcoming tournament, with no travelling reserves included. The team will open against host U.S on June 6 in Dallas, with group games scheduled against India, Canada and Ireland. The top two teams from the group stage will advance to the next round.

Despite a subpar performance in his first T20 series against New Zealand last month, Usman Khan was included in the squad due to his previous experience playing for Pakistan in T20 cricket. Mohammad Amir and Imad Wasim have also returned from retirement and were selected based on their past performances in the Caribbean Premier League. Babar Azam will lead the team as captain along with players like Mohammad Rizwan, Naseem Shah, Shadab Khan and Shaheen Shah Afridi.

Pakistan has a rich history at the T20 World Cup, having reached the final twice (in 2007 and 2009) and finishing as runners-up (in 2021). The tournament is set to begin on June 1st in Caribbean and United States
