Komatsu Mining Corp. Recognized at Carbon Chamber Awards

The Southeastern Regional Development Agency (SERDA) building played host to the Carbon County Chamber of Commerce (CCCC) on March 21st for their monthly luncheon. During this event, Komatsu Mining Corp. was recognized as the business spotlight. Tanner Hackney, Ronnie Bogdin, and Tom King from Komatsu accepted the nomination on behalf of their company from CCCC Vice President Scottie Draper.

Komatsu, previously known as Joy Global, is a leading original and rebuilder of surface and underground Joy Global products. Since 1972, Joy Global has served Carbon County with a warehouse that supported customers in the west before expanding to meet growing customer expectations with global assignments in Brazil, Canada, and Asia. In 1999, Joy Global moved to its current location on Ridge Road in Wellington and was later acquired by Komatsu Limited in 2019. Despite the change in ownership, the iconic “Joy orange” brand remains strong on all equipment produced by Komatsu Mining Corp., which celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2021 after Joy Global did so in 2019.

Hackney shared that Komatsu has a combined 200 years of experience and knowledge in the mining industry and has achieved twelve years without any lost time accidents. He thanked CCCC for recognizing their efforts and assured that Komatsu would continue supporting the community just as they have for the past 52 years.
