Greenfield and West Allis Health Departments Unite under Southwest Suburban Health Department

Health departments in West Allis and Greenfield to merge

The cities of Greenfield and West Allis have announced the merging of their health departments. The newly formed department, known as the Southwest Suburban Health Department, will serve both cities for a period of five years.

The Greenfield Health Department and the West Allis Health Department have now come under the umbrella of the Southwest Suburban Health Department. This joint department was approved by the Greenfield and West Allis Common Councils through an intergovernmental agreement.

Funding for the Southwest Suburban Health Department will be provided equally by the City of West Allis and the City of Greenfield. The department will also receive grants from the State of Wisconsin Department of Health and Social Services to support its operations.

According to Dan Devine, mayor of West Allis, this merger will allow for a more strategic and effective approach to serving the communities of both cities. By combining resources, the new department will be able to provide more robust services to the public, including improved efficiency and communication.
