Five Retiring Boise State Faculty and Staff Honored for Their Lifetime of Service

April 9 Celebration Honoring Retiring Faculty and Staff of the College of Health Sciences

Five esteemed faculty and staff members of the College of Health Sciences at Boise State University are retiring in the spring of 2024. The retirees being honored include Sarah Toevs, Shelle Poole, Tim Kempf, Olgie Castillo, and Shawn Dunnagan.

To celebrate their years of dedication and service to the university, a special event will be held on Tuesday, April 9 from 3:00-4:30 p.m. in the Bishop Barnwell Room of the Student Union. The entire campus community is invited to join in recognizing and appreciating these individuals for their contributions to Boise State.

Olgie Castillo has served as a management assistant in the Department of Kinesiology for 16 years and is one of the retirees being honored. Shawn Dunnagan, a lecturer III in the School of Public and Population Health with 13 years of service, will also be recognized.

Tim Kempf, a clinical associate professor in the Department of Kinesiology who has retired after 19 years of service to Boise State, is another retiree being honored. Shelle Poole, a divisional dean and clinical associate professor in the School of Nursing who has dedicated 13 years to the university, is also retiring.

Lastly, Sarah Toevs, a professor in the School of Public and Population Health and director of the Center for Aging Studies who has been serving for an impressive 24 years at Boise State University is retiring as well. Each retiree has made significant contributions to their respective departments or schools and they will all be dearly missed by their colleagues and students alike.

The College expressed its deepest gratitude towards these esteemed faculty members for their unwavering commitment to education and research throughout their careers at Boise State University.
