De Silva joins Sutton as a free-agent forward

Sutton United have recently signed Dillon De Silva on a permanent contract. The 22-year-old Sri Lanka international, who most recently played for Wealdstone, had been in negotiations with the club over extending his short-term contract.

De Silva, who scored two goals in eight appearances for the Stones, is an exciting addition to Sutton’s team. The club, who were relegated from League Two this season, has welcomed the forward to their squad while Wealdstone finished 16th in the National League.

Sutton manager Steve Morison expressed his excitement about De Silva’s arrival, stating that the club’s recruitment process identified him towards the end of the season and they were impressed with what they saw in him. De Silva was born in London and came through the academy at Queens Park Rangers but never made a senior appearance for the Hoops. After a loan spell at Torquay United which was made permanent last year, he scored five goals in 41 appearances.

Having won 14 caps for Sri Lanka and scoring twice for his national team, De Silva brings international experience to Sutton United. The club will be looking to benefit from his talents as they navigate their way through the challenges of the upcoming season.
