Samaritan’s Purse commemorates World Water Day

Brent Kejr, a passionate engineer who loves building things and solving problems, decided to move back to the United States from Asia three years ago to work with Samaritan’s Purse. This organization travels around the world providing clean drinking water to people in need by utilizing various technologies and filter systems. Some filters are even powered by solar panels and can be left in a country permanently.

As part of his role, Kejr helps design equipment used globally to provide clean drinking water. His work has taken him to places like Haiti after the earthquake, Ukraine, and various emergency field hospitals around the world. Samaritan’s Purse has mobile units that can be deployed wherever needed, capable of filtering water to make it clean and drinkable. These units can provide water for up to 10,000 people a day when connected to a fresh water source, with smaller filters available specifically for field hospitals to ensure patients have clean water for care and surgeries.

The organization’s mission is clear: providing safe drinking water during disasters and emergencies is crucial in preventing disease outbreaks. Deputy Director David Phillips emphasized the importance of water as a life source, highlighting the need to be prepared at a moment’s notice. In locations like Ukraine, where war damaged the water infrastructure, Samaritan’s Purse was able to drill wells and distribute clean water throughout the community.

Overall, Samaritan’s Purse remains committed to ensuring access to clean drinking water for communities facing challenges such as war or natural disasters. With engineers like Kejr on their team, they continue their efforts of making safe drinking water a top priority during times of crisis.
