Chicago Bears Acquire Star Receiver Keenan Allen in a Major Offensive Boost for the Upcoming Season

Ryan Poles deems Keenan Allen as “a flawless match”

The Bears made a significant move earlier this month by trading for receiver Keenan Allen, adding another weapon to their offense for the upcoming season with presumptive No. 1 overall pick, Caleb Williams. Chicago G.M. Ryan Poles had been monitoring Allen as a potential cap casualty and was prepared to seize the opportunity when it arose.

At the annual league meeting on Monday, Poles reflected on his time in K.C., where he watched Allen make impressive plays and was surprised by the high level at which he is still playing despite his age. Despite only playing 13 games last season, Allen achieved a career-high with 108 catches, 1,243 yards (the second most in his career), and seven touchdowns. Poles emphasized that adding Allen presents a fantastic opportunity for the team as they move forward with a young quarterback.

Poles believes that Allen is the perfect fit for the team, given his understanding of the NFL, timing, space, and ability to read defenses, which will greatly benefit a young quarterback. With Allen joining receiver DJ Moore, tight ends Cole Kmet and Gerald Everett, and running back D’Andre Swift, Poles sees a balanced field with a lot of potential for dynamic and special plays in the upcoming season.
