Hatton and Smith Selected for College Sports Communicators’ Academic All-District Team

Billy Smith and Langdon Hatton have been named members of the 2023-24 College Sports Communicators’ Academic All-District Team. This prestigious team recognizes student-athletes who excel in both sports and academics.

Smith, a sophomore psychology major, had an impressive debut season after transferring from Miami (OH). He averaged 5.8 points per game and shot 34.6 percent from three-point range. His season-high was a 17-point game against Berea on December 7th. Despite being new to the team, Smith met the requirements for consideration for the CSC Academic All-District Team, which include maintaining a minimum GPA of 3.5 and appearing in a certain percentage of games.

On the other hand, Hatton, a junior data science major, had an outstanding season with averages of 10.5 points and 7.1 rebounds. He also achieved five double-doubles during the season, including a standout performance against Kennesaw State where he scored 27 points and grabbed 12 rebounds. This is not Hatton’s first academic honor as he was also named to the 2024 Academic All-ASUN Team.

Both Hatton and Smith are excellent examples of how student-athletes can balance their sporting careers with their academic pursuits. Their achievements on the court and in the classroom demonstrate their dedication to both sports and academics respectively.
