Biden aims to highlight differences with Trump on health care in North Carolina

In Raleigh, the state capital of North Carolina, President Biden and Vice President Harris paid a visit to mark the 14th anniversary of the Affordable Care Act. While they celebrated this milestone, Biden also took the opportunity to criticize the health care agenda of Republicans.

Biden spoke out against Trump and the Republicans’ efforts to limit abortion and reduce health care coverage. He pointed out that despite numerous attempts to repeal the Affordable Care Act, known as ObamaCare, without success, Trump and Republicans continued their attacks on it. Biden also mentioned a budget proposal from the Republican Study Committee that proposed cuts to entitlement programs and the Affordable Care Act.

The president also spoke out about Trump’s controversial remarks about punishing women who have abortions and his claims that he was responsible for ending Roe v. Wade. Biden emphasized the importance of moving forward together, protecting democracy, ensuring health care as a right, and restoring freedom to choose.

North Carolina is expected to be a critical battleground in the upcoming election, with both presidential and gubernatorial races at stake. Recent polling showed that while Biden trailed Trump by 9 percentage points earlier in North Carolina, he had narrowed that lead to 6 percentage points in recent days.
