Conspiracy theories arise following collapse of Baltimore Bridge: Is this the start of World War III?

In the wake of a bridge collapse in Baltimore that occurred when a container ship struck it, conspiracy theories have emerged despite authorities finding no evidence of criminal activity. The Singapore-flagged ship collided with a pier on the Francis Scott Key Bridge early Tuesday, causing it to collapse and leaving six workers missing and presumed dead.

Social media platforms have been abuzz with various theories implicating different groups, such as terrorists or foreign agents, in the supposed attack. Influencers like Andrew Tate and conspiracy theorists like Alex Jones have also contributed to the speculation by suggesting cyber attacks and hinting at the possibility of a Third World War.

However, Singapore port authorities have stated that the collapse was due to a “momentary loss of propulsion” of the ship as seen in video surveillance footage. Despite this explanation, rumors persist and some link the incident to conflicts in Gaza or question diversity initiatives by companies.

Authorities, including Baltimore police chief Richard Worley and Maryland Governor Wes Moore, have reiterated that there is no indication of a terrorist attack. However, these assurances have not stopped the conspiracy theories from gaining traction online with various interpretations being put forward by different individuals and groups.

Despite evidence suggesting otherwise, some people continue to cling onto their beliefs that there was a deliberate attack on the bridge. It remains to be seen what will happen next as investigations continue into the incident.
